Postdoctoral Research Position at Taipei Medical University

Join a cutting-edge project at the interface of psychiatric neuroscience, immunology, and neuroregeneration.

The Laboratory of Prof. Thierry Burnouf (Graduate Institute of Biomedical Materials and Tissue Engineering, College of Biomedical Engineering) and the Psychiatric Neuroscience Lab, led by Dr. Matteo Martino (Graduate Institute of Mind, Brain, and Consciousness) and Dr. Paola Magioncalda (International Master/Ph.D. Program in Medicine, College of Medicine), at Taipei Medical University (TMU) are jointly recruiting a full-time postdoctoral researcher.

Project description

Our joint research investigates the neurobiological mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders, particularly bipolar disorder, and develops innovative neuroregenerative treatment strategies focused on white matter protection and repair.

The successful candidate will contribute to the development of a novel neuroimmune animal model of bipolar disorder and to assess the therapeutic potential of platelet-derived secretome to promote white matter protection and neuroregeneration.

This ambitious project offers a unique opportunity to work at the crossroads of psychiatric neuroscience, neuroimmunology, and transfusion and regenerative medicine, with the goal of developing a mechanistic model of bipolar disorder and pioneering novel therapeutic strategies within an internationally collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct, and analyze mouse experiments within the scope of the research project.
  • Conduct behavioral analyses to assess neurological function and disease progression.
  • Perform immunohistochemistry and omics analyses for tissue characterization and protein expression analysis.
  • Develop and optimize experimental protocols and methodologies.
  • Contribute to data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and presentation of research findings.

Qualifications

  • D. in Neuroscience, Biotechnology, Biology, Immunology, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience with animal models and advanced microscopy.
  • Strong interest in neuroimmune mechanisms and translational research.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Terms of employment

This is a full-time position with an initial one-year contract, renewable based on performance and project requirements.

Salary will follow the Taipei Medical University postdoctoral pay scale, including health insurance and standard employment benefits, with adjustments according to experience and qualifications and annual salary reviews.

The position is available immediately, and applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until filled.

Application Procedure

Interested applicants are invited to submit their curriculum vitae (CV), a brief statement of research interests, and contact details of at least two referees to:
